Yogurt Parfait

March 29, 2010
Generally I was never a huge fan of yogurt parfaits. I am not sure why, because separately I love all of the ingredients.
I am trying to be more conscience of what I eat, and slowly transform my diet. Personally I think this transformation is harder than people think, unless they were brought up on a healthy, well balanced diet.

I eventually want to eat all natural and organic and essentially cut out all processed foods,  because honestly when you read up on that stuff, it's disgusting to see some of the junk we put into our bodies!

Instead of reaching for the chips or cookies for a snack, my mom gave me this recipe to try.

We took a trip to Trader Joe's and bought all of these yummy ingredients:
this yogurt, except I got regular vanilla. This may be delicious too though!
Lowfat granola with almonds
more sliced almonds!
and sliced strawberries!

I put 1 cup of yogurt in a bowl.
Sprinkle with 1/2 cup of granola
sprinkle with a handful of the almonds
and slice up 2 - 3 strawberries.

Now that's a nice easy snack to eat. After you eat it, you wont feel bloated and gross, like processed foods and chips can often make you feel.
You also can put it in small containers and take it on the go too!
And such a cute idea for picnics!

You could use any combo of ingrediants and flavors of yogurt.
Some fruit you may want to try:
blueberries, mango, raspberries, blackberries, bananas, etc.
You could also use any kinds of nuts & seeds:
pecans, walnuts, pistachios, macadamia nuts, brazil nuts, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, etc.
I am really happy that I decided to give this a shot! You don't even need to add sugar to make it taste good either.
Here is to eating healthy(er)!

PS. I did a little blog makeover if you didn't notice! (for those who saw it in purple, I toned it down. It was bothering me!
I am also working on a better header, but without photoshop it's a little difficult!

Yummy! And just the type of ingredients that I can keep around the office too. I have been buying the special K lowfat granola for this very purpose, but I will try the TJ's next time.

I've never tried the special K one. They have a few different flavors at TJ's, which I'm sure they'd all go good with this. The almond one I got though is really good!
