As some of you may know, I am starting a new feature. Wine-Down Wednesday!
Some of you may not like wine, and I know this... but maybe you will be intrigued to one day try some new kinds you never knew existed!
I am by no means a wine expert. I just drink whatever I like. Sometimes I choose the wine based on the type, or based on the label or even the bottle itself. I like to experiment with different tastes, and I think it would be fun to actually remember which ones I drink by posting them here.
I know it's late in the day, but I figured that I still have time to squeeze this one in!
For this week's wine I am going to choose this wonderful number:
GARNACHA DE FUEGO
As I sit here and write this, I am actually sipping a glass of this lovely fiery wine. I am a fan of red wine, but there is something about this wine, I can't quite put my fingertip on. When I sip it, the flavors make me go "Oooo what is that?" I think there are many layers to the flavor, which I like.
When you taste this wine, you will get a smooth texture of warm blackberry, black cherry, and plum, with a touch of spice. I think the spice is the "Oooo what is that?" I'm not sure if it's peppery or if it's sweet, or a mix of both!
This particular grape (Grenache - pronounced Gren - ah-sh) is one of the world's most widely-planted grapes, producing unique expression where ever it is planted. It's made from vines that are 60 - 80 years old.
I think it would pair well with salmon, or even steak, or a nice burger! But even by itself, I think it's great.
Depending on where you live, you can find this pretty cheap between $8 - $14 dollars.
It's Lush, bold, and fun. Go find some for your next dinner, I don't think you will be sorry!

hmm...soon ill be making a sangria for a bridal shower and i know nothing about wine. do u have any tips?
I love Sangria!!
I especially like it with red wine, some people like it with white. Depending on your taste.
Here is a recipe I personally use:
a red wine... like merlot or cabernet (I buy the larger bottle)
1 lemon cut into wedges or slices
1 orange cut into wedges or slices
1 lime cut into wedges or slices
1 cup of OJ
2 shots of gin or triple sec.. or more depending on your taste
1 cup of raspberries or strawberries
1 cup of pineapple
and 4 cups of gingerale...
I hope this helps! you can really add whatever fruit you want.. experiment with different tastes! Sometimes I use sprite instead of gingerale too!
oh and I would chill the wine overnight before using it... with everything in it except the gingerale, berries, and ice... then add them just before you use them!
